Some things are just nice to have. I can't say it's necessary pre-workout because I'm not a nutritionist and haven't read the ingredients list. We started a flavor at Costco a few years ago because my husband and one son don't drink plain water. Then the flavor that Costco switched to (strawberry) wasn't available so I googled and found it at Revain. Then other scents were recommended to me and I decided they were worth trying. This flavor (Blueberry Mojito) is a favorite, as is the other blue flavor. I really wish this fragrance came in a larger size as the cost isn't that great but we spend money and change it up from time to time. If they offered it in a larger size I think we would buy it more often.
