Ideal for the home user

I've used a lot of KVM in server rooms. These industrial units are large and expensive as they are designed to manage large numbers of servers. Another feature of server-facing KVMs is that they emit an audible "chirp" when switching to a new machine. This is useful in noisy server rooms when switching between servers whose desktops mostly look the same. I want my kids to wake up at night to a loud "chirp"!) This Linksys is just about perfect. Since cables are built in, it is very compact. It switches silently (no chirping) and the video signal is clear with no jitter or noise, even at high resolution (1280 x 1024) with a high refresh rate. Another customer said he had some compatibility issues but I didn't have any. I use a Microsoft USB optical mouse with a PS2 converter (that's the little adapter plug that comes with the mouse) and I've used KVM with a regular Dell keyboard and with my current ultra-ergonomic Kinesis Classic keyboard . this unit 5 stars except I think the cables would benefit from being a bit longer. Be that as it may, the device offers good performance, great compatibility, and incredible value for money.
