You get what you pay for

I was attracted by the company's reputation, low price and consolidated cable management. However, after my experience with two of these switches (original plus spare), I think I'm moving away from the all-in-one KVM design. On both devices, the Port 1 mouse had a very annoying problem: when you clicked or the mouse, there was a one-second delay before anything happened. At first glance, this didn't seem like a big deal, but after about 10 minutes of keyboard and mouse work, the error was…

Inexpensive but great quality!

I have used other KVM switches in the past, mostly mechanical but mostly with unsatisfactory results; Worst of all, my monitor is blurry enough to give me a headache. If you only need to connect two computers, this KVM switch is MUCH better value than other switches I've found. My monitor is no less sharp than if it was plugged directly into my computer and didn't (shouldn't) take up desk space. I highly recommend this switch.

Not comparable to IO Gear

Although this product worked with my new custom P4 2.8GHz and my old custom PII400, it failed miserably with the P133 gateway and the same PII400. The mouse was not recognized on the gateway, the keyboard did not work with a mouse connected to the KVM, and the monitor went black with every key press, even after removing the mouse. I've tried several different configurations, even different mice, with no success. I took it to work where I have 2 PII400 gateways and it didn't work with them…

Does what it says on the tin

This is exactly what I was looking for: not too expensive, not much hassle with the cables - they're built into the box, and you don't have to reach for the button to close switch between computers - just double-tap on "Scroll Lock" to switch from one computer to another. The cables are quite long, which is good: they're longer than I need right now, but I might appreciate the extra length in the future.

Ideal for the home user

I've used a lot of KVM in server rooms. These industrial units are large and expensive as they are designed to manage large numbers of servers. Another feature of server-facing KVMs is that they emit an audible "chirp" when switching to a new machine. This is useful in noisy server rooms when switching between servers whose desktops mostly look the same. I want my kids to wake up at night to a loud "chirp"!) This Linksys is just about perfect. Since cables are built in, it is very compact. It…

So far, so good! in KVM Switches

Well I was a little nervous after reading some of these reviews. However, the $10 Revain discount made it irresistible. I used Super Saver Shipping and received it a week later (looks like they used UPS next day shipping). I followed the simple installation instructions and you know what. It did not work. The keyboard appears to be locked. He wasn't typing, and the "Num Lock, Caps Lock, and Scroll Lock" lights were on all the time. I turned off PC1 and thought of a refreshing drink. A small…
