I have two of these bags on one of the tiers of my 4 stage UV canister pump in a marine aquarium. Never touch the rings with bare hands after they have been in the filter to avoid damaging the biofilter in the rings. So when I clean the canister, I gently and gently pick them up by the strings and put them in. put it in a bowl and clean the rest of the pump. The rings certainly have growth in and on the rings and my pelvis has gone through a cycle and is now a full grown pelvis. I would buy them again.
