Incredibly fast and compact scanner

This scanner is incredibly easy to set up. I simply plugged the power adapter into an outlet and the USB cable into the back of my Windows 7 PC, popped in the software CD, went through the on-screen setup and was up and running in 10 minutes. Several shipping pads are stuck in different parts of the machine; just remove and throw away. There is also an additional disk of "bonus software" that I haven't had time to play with, but none of this is required for it to work. I like the small size of this device. Unlike old-school scanners with the lid up and down, documents are fed through. As a test, I scanned an old color photo (4x6) with the "Color PDF" setting and was amazed at how quickly the scan was completed. The resolution and quality of the scanned image was amazing - it looked better than many of my digital photos. This is great for converting old photos to digital format. I was also impressed that the front and back of the photo were scanned at the same time. Haven't tried scanning a stack of papers but you can see a good video of it in one of the other reviews. The software's interface is mostly simple and intuitive, but not perfect. So far my only minor complaint has been that I haven't yet figured out how to do the scan to email feature as there are only two options: 1) send using an email client like Outlook or 2 ) send with which -or some other method I don't understand. I'll spend more time this weekend figuring that out as it would be nice to be able to email to a Gmail address somehow. Oh and one more thing, I see options for both color and black and white PDF, but I haven't figured out how to scan to other document types (like TIFF) either, but I'm sure I'll find out soon.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
