Ok I had a burning desire to do some GPGPU cuda calculations. The setup I put together isn't the most advanced today, maybe it would have been half a year or so ago. With the exception of the case and power supply, most components drop in price in the first few months. Anyway, here is the setup: Cooler Master HAF 932 High Air Flow ATX Full Tower Black - (RC-932-KKN1-GP) SilverStone ATX12V/EPS12V 1000W Silver Modular PFC Power Supply ST1000-P (Black) MSI AM3 NVIDIA nForce ATX AMD Motherboard NF980-G65 Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB HDD WD5000AAKS AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHz 125W OCZ OCZ3P1333LVAM4GK DDR3 PC3-10666 Platinum Memory Module AMD Edition Gigabyte GeForce GTX460-1GB GDDR5 Graphics Card GV-N460OC 1GI <-- two of them are for only power supply. Copes with the load, works quietly, does not heat up. It's easy to install and comes with a good collection of modular connectors. Due to the modularity, only the connections that I need are in the housing, which makes installation much easier. The motherboard and case can accommodate a third graphics card, and this PSU will likely handle it since each is around 160W). As for installation, oh wow. CUDA programs are shockingly fast. I also played a bit of it (World of Warcraft, Starcraft 2) and it was quite a nice experience. I don't think any game loaded the system. Silverstone is a good brand and I expect to use this power supply in future systems as this setup ages and hardens.
