Review on Prothane 13 1903 Motor Transmission Insert by Mario Newton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Quiet crackling and popping

Over the past seven years the popping and popping on the right side has gotten worse. This kit was good value and better than what was on my 2001 Mitsubishi Spyder Eclipse GT in my opinion. The complete installation took several days. The kit I received also included lower support bushings! I found it a bonus and my car desperately needed these bushings. Since steel insert bushings were not included in the kit, the old ones had to be repaired with a welder and an angle grinder. I also used an angle grinder to reduce the overhang on one side of the front and rear hubs so I could fit it into the bracket. It just stuck out too far and I couldn't even get it in with lube. I struggled with this for an hour before deciding to cut it. After cutting it, I still had to force it with muscles and a hammer. At $67.28 for the whole set, I wasn't expecting perfection. A 30 km test drive showed an improvement. The thrust to the left when accelerating disappeared, the car stopped shaking, the sound, of course, disappeared. For the price and the fact that the car no longer makes those annoying loud pops and pops in parking lots when I'm driving, I give it 5 stars!

Pros
  • Same as everything before
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
