I ordered this one because it was metal and wood, not plastic. After use and construction, there are definitely areas that need improvement. Round handles for tightening the board are difficult to make and my hands are very small. I couldn't imagine it being easier for someone with big hands. The handles can be larger or have a different shape for a better grip. The instructions for use say not to wet the metal parts, which I found impossible considering the tofu is wet and the whole point of the abs. take apart to clean each time? That would be impractical, right? So maybe the best gear that actually gets wet well, like food grade stainless steel? To be honest, I was hoping for that! The bag is decent, I like the canvas material. However, when assembled it fits snugly, so do we have to take it apart again and reassemble it every time you use it? Again very impractical. When I put it back together and used it I used a tool to tighten it as best I could and while tightening the tofu it became very uneven (the screw came loose) and I had to fiddle with it halfway through and take it completely apart to tighten the screw again. Maybe it's just user error, but annoying nonetheless. The plating on the bottom tray also struck me as having chips in several places, also I'm wondering what the plating is made of? If you want to marinate in this part, be careful with it. As a press, I think it's generally working well. The drainage could be a lot better, but that's ok. I pressed it for a total of about 30 minutes. Whenever I flipped it on its side (e.g. the barless version) it seemed to work a little better. Anyway, I just wanted to put all my thoughts out there in case it helps anyone decide. At least it works a lot better than when I press it manually, so that's a plus.
