Review on 🚣 Enhanced Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier for Roof by Steve Tripp

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well with 60 " Aeroblade blades WITHOUT the 4 " leg pack overhang of a 2016 Ford F150.

According to the instructions, my crossbars should protrude at least 4 inches from the pedals, but I have already used the longest Aeroblade available (60 inches) on my car (2016 Ford F150). In my setup, the aerobar protruded about 1 inch from the leg package and I was afraid it wouldn't work for me, but I wanted to give it a try anyway. Glad I took the risk. found that with the Hullavator mounted on the end of the aerobar (with the end cap removed) I had about 8 inches of clearance between the Hullavator arms and my car. The instructions recommended at least 4 inches. This meant I was able to install on my rig with no problems! Because of the extra 4 inches of clearance, I decided to mount the Hullavator 4 inches further from the end of the pole. It didn't work because the hands couldn't get through the bar end + end caps. The best I could do was place the Hullavator 1 inch from the end of the pole. Now when I lower the arms the end caps come off and there is about 7 inches of clearance between the arms and the truck (see photos). A few things I noticed but aren't critical: My kayak looks like it's too far from the edge of my truck and not in the middle of the roof. I know I can move the J-hooks closer to the other end of the handlebars to fix this, but this limits the width of kayak I can carry. I have 2 skinny kayaks, buy my friend's kayak, it's quite wide. Rubber strips on Aeroblade chains until you find the best position for your vehicle.* Square nuts are slightly curved on one side. on the Aeroblade when I drew the Hullavator. The instructions didn't mention it so I don't think it matters, but why not have more surface to hold it in place.* Take your time---it's actually a very easy install
