Worked well, plastic parts are good for making sure you don't mark the springs, but they're not really necessary. This is the same set sold in other outlets under different brand names at a much higher price. The fact that you can use a wrench or a smaller socket is great. Ever since I almost blew my head with a set of old MacPherson strut compressors over 20 years ago I've always been nervous about spring compression, but this compressor seems perfectly safe. I have used this kit on a BMW E46 which is a model that comes factory lowered and the car has rather small springs which need to be compressed rather gently to facilitate assembly to the strut. I originally tried another set and couldn't quite connect the coils to it, so I was very impressed with how they allow you to reach much further apart and compress the spring much more. Very well made and very happy with my purchase.
