I wanted to convert a pair of my old giant speakers (Mirage M3Si @6 ohms) that had been sitting idle in the garage for a long time into speakers for my electronic drum kit. Using a large preamp and amp to drive the speakers was impractical. So I decided to give this little box a try. I am very happy with the results. I don't turn the volume up high enough to notice distortion. I run about 25% on the dial and that's enough to fill a 20 x 25 foot room with more volume than my family can handle. The data sheet for the TDA7498e chip states that it offers maximum performance with the lowest distortion at 36V. The power supply supplied with this product is 24V with a maximum current of 6A. If you really want to turn the dial up to "11" you will probably need a 36V power supply with a maximum current of 8-10A. All in all, not a bad deal for $70.
