This is one of those tools that I don't use often, but it's really handy to have in my toolbox. You don't need expensive aluminum ones, they work just as well. I used it to measure corner by corner when replacing baseboards in my house. I haven't found any other use for it, but if I do, at least I know it's in my toolbox.
