I bought a Big Cobber front and rear for commuting. I love that it offers a wide beam that is visible from the side and that it doesn't need to be mounted on the handlebars where I don't have room. But I was surprised when I received the item. The curvature of the front mounting plate is so narrow that it doesn't even get close to the front of my bikes (and I have many), they are all carbon or aluminum and have wide handlebars. The mounting plate seems to suggest that everyone rides retro bikes with steel frames and narrow tubes. Even with the longer elastic strap and even after installing the rubber bumpers, I found that the mount flexed away from the stem, causing the mount to become loose and prone to constant bouncing. Knog really should add a disclaimer stating that the Big Cobber will not fit most modern bikes. It's a shame as I love the product but find it almost useless due to this fatal design flaw. (Note that using it on the handlebars isn't an option. Even if I had the space on the handlebars, which I don't have, it wouldn't offer the Big Cobber's primary benefit, which is side visibility.) Considering how much I do I am very disappointed and frustrated with these blocks. Also, the taillight mounting plate should include an angled piece of plastic or rubber to keep the bracket vertical (or at least flush) when mounting it to the seatpost. In any case, the rear light slopes down significantly as it follows the angle of the seat post. This is especially important when using the Big Cobber with a beanbag as you will lose a lot of visibility. There has been too much emphasis on engineering (which is great) and too little on the convenience of installing lights on the bike (which is essential for basic use).
