Keeps most hair dry. Swim Challenge for Practice

Note: Swim caps are not designed to keep water out or to keep hair completely dry. They are designed to protect hair from chlorine or salt water, reduce drag and increase swimming efficiency. I swim for practice and have installed big turns. I still wanted to swim so I bought this hat. It has a durable silicone that is malleable. It can be a little tricky to style your hair. (I tied mine in a loose ponytail and then pulled the cap over my forehead, tucking the ponytail back.) It works well for long hair and is longer than a regular swim cap as it falls from the forehead and over the ears slides. Because of this, it stores a lot of water. I created a suction effect and the suction caused a lot of water to get stuck in my ears. It was difficult to swim, to feel the water there. Buoyancy is also an issue when swimming with this cap. When the cap was firmly on my head it felt like it was floating which really affected my ability to swim. Bending my head so that it was parallel to my body (a good form of swimming) was much more difficult. End of swim: Most of my hair stayed dry. My edges were a bit damp, which is to be expected. Just do not forget to rinse with balm and moisturize well. You'll be fine. Verdict: If you're buying this to keep your hair dry it will keep most of it, but don't expect it to be 100%. Lap Swimmer: Can make swimming difficult.
