Review on 🚲 HAPTOO Balance Bike: Adjustable Seat & Handle for Toddlers, Ages 2-6 - Ideal Walking Bicycle for Boys & Girls by Chris Litton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I think this is the best training runner! Stay away from training wheels and tricycles!

Our 23 months. LOVE this bike! Mom and Dad too! Assembly was very easy, one screw was missing. We used a short screw to make the brake handle accessible for small hands (see image). It also looks like there are three colors available but only one shows the brake so we bought that one. Dad assembled the bike upside down for the first time. Make sure the saddle clip is down (see other picture) and the words on the frame are right side up. Doh! They may have changed the packaging as other reviewers have commented, but assembly of the wheel was not required. Do not unscrew the axles! Simply insert the pre-assembled front fork into the steerer tube, slide the handlebars into the fork tube and tighten the hex bolt with the included hex wrench. Same goes for the seat - put it in place and tighten with the included hex key. Boom, ready to rock! From unpacking to having the child sit in the seat, it took about five minutes! Plus, foam tires are a blessing, not a hindrance. This bike is not designed for long bumpy rides. The complexity of inflatable tires does not add value. Read reviews of other inflatable balance bikes to see what headaches they can cause. The foam tires will last a while until your dogs eat them. Parent tip: Multi-track vehicles like tricycles, quads, and balance bikes teach your child's brain to "turn right to get ahead." Go right,” while a balance bike like this helps the rider develop muscle memory to balance the bike. Search "countersteering" if you want to blow your mind. We all learned that unconsciously! Striders like this one are the best way for kids to develop riding skills at an early age. I will do everything in my power to keep our child away from multi-track vehicles until they can balance on a bike. I had a great video of our kid learning to raise his legs (he did it on his own - no encouragement needed!) but Revain doesn't allow kids to leave feedback. Just make sure to run ahead of your child, encourage them to look at themselves instead of the ground, and remind them where the brakes are often. Riding up and down the rolling hills seems to offer great opportunities to "walk" the bike and speed down the descents. Once they learn to safely control their own speed, they will feel very confident riding this beginner bike! As a former motorcycle safety instructor, I have made it NOW a habit to wear a helmet and make sure they wear closed-toe shoes. With open-toed shoes (or no shoes), your toes will drag across the sidewalk. Not a fun experience. We intend to keep this wheel in good condition and pass it on to other new riders. Once they can balance, switch to a pedal bike.
