Connection of SA511 to SCO500B without problems

Connection of a smoke detector to SCO500B (smoke/CO) without problems. I received 4 of these (one for each bedroom on the same floor) to comply with the City of Southern California building codes in 2016 after updating some non-contiguous parts of the home. I also have 2 smoke/carbon monoxide alarms (SCO500B) in the upstairs and downstairs hallways. The devices I received were on the California Fire Department's Approved Device List. They don't have a 10-year battery - a requirement that can be waived if multiple devices are communicating with each other and reporting malfunctions, dead batteries, etc. I sent a list of equipment and proposed locations to my local building inspector prior to purchase. - he said OK and they were installed and tested. After we had programmed the places for announcements, we hung them in the appropriate rooms. While some other construction work (floors) was ongoing we put dust collectors on it to keep sensitive detectors from accumulating dust. They may need to be vacuumed regularly - no false alarms in 3 months so far. One trick is to program everything - I have a whole room with pillows and covered each with a pillow (in the same room) when I programmed the cross communication. - lowered the noise level when I set up a house full of devices.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Doubtful
