Outstanding multi-location detectors

I am a volunteer firefighter and I highly recommend these detectors. They communicate with each other wirelessly. So when someone alarms, they all start beeping and tell you which room has an alarm in. I currently have four installed on three floors of my home, one of which is a combination of smoke and carbon monoxide. During installation, you can simply choose the name of the room it belongs to from a pre-programmed list. If one of the detectors goes off, they'll all verbally tell you which…

  • Everything is fine!

Came home to the fire, my sensors were silent.

I came home one day to find that a fire had broken out in the apartment below me. My house filled with black smoke. Panicked, I removed my animals when I called 911, initially assuming the batteries were dead since the house was empty about 4 hours before my return, and thinking nothing of it. When my insurance agent came to assess the damage I decided to test the detectors and they all charged! They just didn't shine. There were four in my house, one in each of the three bedrooms and another…

The kids didn't wake up with our old alarm clocks.

After learning that traditional smoke alarms don't wake children up well, we started experimenting. With our old "standard" fire alarms, the children didn't move at all. Very surprised, I bought one of these voice types to try. First, the alarm sound is a little different from our old alarm clocks, and the added voice is a nice feature. After trying the old alarm clock again with no movement, we tried the new alarm clock. They didn't wake up right away, but after about 10 seconds they started…

First alarm, second speed

He speaks but there is no button to repeat the message if you missed it. It's a singing birthday card mixed with a smoke alarm. There's a button and 2 indicators, plus a fine print 10-page manual that explains how all the hundreds of functions are supposed to work. Programming a clock on a 1980's VCR looks like a convenient user experience by comparison. The cat is now staring at the ceiling, wondering if the CO level is high or if it's just a low battery alert. So when the whole house starts…

Connection of SA511 to SCO500B without problems

Connection of a smoke detector to SCO500B (smoke/CO) without problems. I received 4 of these (one for each bedroom on the same floor) to comply with the City of Southern California building codes in 2016 after updating some non-contiguous parts of the home. I also have 2 smoke/carbon monoxide alarms (SCO500B) in the upstairs and downstairs hallways. The devices I received were on the California Fire Department's Approved Device List. They don't have a 10-year battery - a requirement that can be

Faulty unit quickly replaced by manufacturer

Two of these detectors have worked well for 6 years and one eventually went dead and had to be replaced. I bought two identical SKUs, but there is no "OneLink" on the front of the device. As before, when trying to connect two devices, I had no luck. In step 4 of the instruction, the 1st block (already configured) does not cause the green light on the 1st block to go out as described. It just goes into test mode without affecting the 2nd block. The second block can be configured and operated…
