Review on Adjustable Heavy-Duty Universal Transom Saver by Extreme Max - Model 3001.1068 by William Wiley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good but not great. Should definitely help you with the trailer.

Installation was easy and took about 25 minutes of physical labor and setup. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because I had to go to the hardware store and buy a longer bolt (5/16 x 4) to install the bottom bracket. It came with a 5/16x3 inch screw. Didn't fit my frame. Also, after installation, the arm still wobbles even when the outboard is lowered into the V-trough and secured with straps. The bars don't fit exactly, but I'm just guessing the lever needs a little play. It also keeps my Mercury Optimax 125 in place at a reasonable angle and should keep it from bouncing when towing. I will use stabilizers for the top to make it easier to move the outboard left/right. I still recommend this to anyone who can't use the newer transpm savers that snap behind the gear case. This should save me some headaches in the future with bigger bottom unit issues.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
