The Good and the Bad - Surveillance DVRs

Good: Low power NVR in a small form factor with supposedly expandable storage, although all I need is 2TB. Management via web interface, SSH or direct connection. Although the software itself is available as a free download that could potentially be downloaded onto anything from a Raspberry Pi to an old Windows laptop, it works well on this small computer. The software is quite powerful and I enjoyed all the features. The Bad: The cost is a bit high considering the operating system is a Linux distribution. Worse still, the video software that comes preinstalled on this thing is very outdated. How PATH is deprecated. In fact, it's so outdated that the UI doesn't support updates. Also, you cannot highlight cameras as long as this software is outdated. You need to connect to the NVR via SSH and update the software via Linux command line to update the software. If you don't have the stomach for it, this product isn't for you. If you don't mind, then this is just an annoyance that neither the seller nor the manufacturer should have allowed.
