Side latch takes a little getting used to, my other pump worked differently and closed quicker without worrying about stem flexing. 08/08 {EDIT Rather annoying that both hands are required}. The hose quickly fills the large volume in the pump well. EDIT 08/08 [short hose interferes with use, rotation needs to be moved, lever adjustment needs to be moved to put pump and wheel in correct place. The hose is too short, at least 12-14 inches, work on a workbench to check the hoses, the pump problem should be on top. I go to the store and buy a longer hose.
