I have a springer spaniel puppy who kept pushing the door open and getting into trouble. I tied a bungee cord to a doorknob and attached it to a nearby shelf. This works until I fix the door. I also use string to put up a plastic fence in my yard to keep the pup from wandering all over the yard (huge backyard fence) or under the patio. They have many uses!
