Bought this to strain Greek yogurt. I usually use a fine mesh strainer with a coffee filter and it works well, but I need something that will hold up longer so I don't have to use two strainers for the amount I make each week. It was advertised to hold a gallon so thought I'd give it a try. I laid out a large strainer and filled it with my yogurt. The first challenge is to find a bowl deep enough so that the bottom of the strainer doesn't get caught in the whey as you strain. The next problem is that the bag is so finely meshed that it takes forever to empty. I usually leave my yogurt in the strainer for two hours and it's quite thick. After three hours in that bag, the yoghurt was still runny. Cleaning the bag was a pain and to dry it I had to hang it over my closet doorknob with a towel underneath to catch the drips. Maybe I'm picky, but for me this was a lot more hassle and work than just using cheap coffee filters and throwing them away when you're done.
