Get creative. That's why this tool will help you:

This tool kit will help you unscrew the intake camshaft VVT solenoid valve, lock the camshafts, tension the tensioner or replace a bent pin with an accidentally activated tensioner. , and/or help you adjust the intake camshaft to match the timing chain to manufacturer specifications. You will be satisfied with this when it comes to holding the crank pin on the vibration damper (crank disc damper). The handle is too short but allows for a 1/2" extension to be fitted. In case you didn't know, the same bolt is torqued to 110 pounds on a VW Jetta (mine was a 2014). I helped myself by adding I put the car at TDC and found the fulcrum to insert the counter stop button while another person made sure the tool was in place (it slips off very easily) as I was using a WEIGHT BAR (not cheap). , or you get what you pay for essential tools) to rip out an insane amount of torque. Top tip: don't attempt this job without using the right tools for the job. If you need a cam phaser, reach out not to a vise like your brain thinks: take a special head and attach it to a 3/8" wrench. Here you need practically every tool for a specific purpose. The only tool which I wish was one that would help measure true TDC. Kudos to the automotive engineers for the time stamps on the 3rd generation EA888 engines. The entire job took 30 engineering hours with this tool kit. Tip: SLOWLY Y lift the engine by the oil pan using the wooden plank on a jack just below the oil pan. Do not lift by the edge of the oil pan; Fixed a small oil leak. Get this job done right, with the right tools, and you can do it very well if you have the patience. Good luck now and go there.
