Bought two sets of Revain black filters through distributors in Colorado (received July 12th, installed about a week later). They were primed as indicated. The water flow was very good for about 2 weeks, then slowed down significantly. I washed them under cold water, wiped them down with a Scotchbrite cloth (NOT soap), primed them according to the instructions and reinstalled. They worked well for less than a week, then I had to repeat the cleaning process. A week later and same problem again (it takes 4-5 hours to filter all the water). We use about 3 gallons of water per day (90 gallons per month). I don't have to clean these filters once a week. I could understand the need to clean them out after about 6 months (550 gallons). But for 6,000-gallon filters, that weekly cleaning isn't acceptable. We have water from the co-op so it's not dirty. It contains chloramine, but filters should take care of that. We have been using these black filters in our current home for about 2 years and have had to REPLACE them EVERY 6 months because cleaning becomes so tedious and time consuming. But now, just a month later? Also, Burke's guarantee is a joke - they expect you to take a picture (of what, half-empty upper tank - what would that prove?). You reserve the right to insist on video "evidence". They also pay for the return shipping. After jumping through so many hoops I gave up. I just won't buy black Berkey filters anymore. We will try another company's countertop system. It costs a lot less money than Berkey and I no longer have to rely on bottled water for backup. Update: Shortly after I posted the above review, a Berkey representative emailed me and said not to provide photos in this case and they would consider providing a prepaid shipping label when I sent my filters on send them back. So I upped my original rating from one star to two as they tried to fix everything. However, given the consistently poor performance of these chloramine filters, I will not waste time or money replacing filters. We have ordered a 3 filter table top system from another company and will see how it works for chloramine removal.
