Review on πŸ’§ Guardian by Elexa Water Leak Detection and Prevention Kit: Fast & Easy Water Damage Prevention – No Tools or Invasive Plumbing Needed by Brandon Garrett

Update: So far so good

Update: Like others, mine has stopped working. The leak detector was never reconnected. It worked at first. Seems like the firmware update he keeps wanting to do has broken him. It's useless to me now. It would be great if I knew how to reset it. .Original review: I only have Guardian for a few days at the moment. Installation and setup went well and if you follow the instructions everything should be fine for everyone. I bought the kit with only 1 sensor as I was a bit worried about how well this system would work. Downloaded the app and here's a tip; First connect the valve controller. Adding devices to your application is very easy - the valve controller had to go through some updates. I tested the system by pouring water on the leak detector as well as the extension cord and all went well. The notification on your phone comes very quickly. The valve controller closed automatically when the sensors were wet. I was able to open the valve again from my phone. PROBLEMS: I am concerned about the stability of the valve controller to stay connected to my home wifi. So far it hasn't been a problem in the short amount of time I've had. I plan to test the system every week for a month and report the results here. If all goes well, I hope to be able to buy more detectors and sensors. This product seems to me to be the BEST system available. You don't have to cut the water pipe, which I find to be a big plus. It actually shuts off the main water when a leak is detected. Exactly what I was looking for if I were to design the system myself.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
