I was shocked when I opened the package and saw that not only did it have a plastic slider to fit the license plate holder around the license plate, it also came with a set of gloves! Holder material - thick rubber silicone type. So it feels like rubber, but it's smooth and soft like silicone, if that makes sense. I found it a lot easier to place plates without the orange slider, but I also did it with a broken finger so maybe that would have made a difference. My new car didn't have license plate holders, just two holes and two small pieces of foam to protect the paint from the license plates. These caps are solid so I feel the car's paintwork is fully protected from the metal plates. It should also be noted that there are two slits on the bottom of the plate holders to allow water to escape and keep them from getting moldy. for money!
