I have had this cheese slicer for more than 20 years. Eventually the wire broke. Since this one comes with 2 wires and looks just like my old one, I decided to buy it. I put an extra wire in my old one and now I have 2 awesome cheese slicers. The roller is larger than most cheese cutters, so it cuts more evenly than most. Because of the placement of the wire, it's easier to hold the cheese while slicing as it won't reach the end of the block of cheese without holding the cheese. Looking at the cheese slicer, it should be obvious that the cheese is being pushed from the side where the brass blocks are visible, rather than the side where the Phillips head screws are visible. Sliding the cheese from the wrong side may be the reason why some users have broken wire issues. We've been using both for several months with no problems.
