Weak, cheap, poorly made, do not buy.

When received they were well packaged and all parts were present. Installation was a bit of a hassle as all the nuts, bolts and washers were brazed using a material similar to Saran Wrap. It took longer to assemble all the equipment than to assemble and install it. I've had them installed in my rack for a few weeks now. At first they seemed pretty fair. They haven't moved or loosened during the daily ride, so I figured it was time to give them a spin. My kayak is a 46lb Future Beach Trophy 126 DLX Angler. I set it up first thing this morning ready to hit the lake and catch some fish I went. I drove about 2 miles before having to stop and adjust the seat belts. You became free. After about a mile, the J-Rack's front nuts completely loosened and the kayak began to nosedive off my car. I tightened the nuts as best I could and continued on my way. After a further 3 km, the front column came loose again. 3 stops at 6 km. At this point I am very upset. I was a Boy Scout so I'm always ready to solve any problems that arise. I took extra straps with me in case I got into trouble. At about mile 12 for my 27 mile journey I made another stop. This time I'm adding ratchet straps. This allowed me to make the rest of the trip to my destination. After unloading my kayak, I realized there was a serious problem. The front J-Rack basically bent 90ยฐ (from about 120ยฐ) and slid forward towards the hood of my car. I still had 27 miles to go home, so I worried about what would actually happen on the way home. After 6 hours of hard fishing I put my kayak back on the stand. This time I'm trying to decide how to attach the kayak. After some tinkering, I tied up the kayak and headed home. I drove 23 miles before having to stop again and fix the front J-Rack. I would describe myself as a specialist in the field of mechanics. I am a master mechanic, grew up in a family of car mechanics. To say that these shelves are poorly constructed and highly unsafe is an understatement. I plan to return them immediately for a refund and would not recommend anyone to buy them.
