A few people have spoken about the noise on this unit but there were some comments that suggested it was a setting issue so I chimed in risk one. I shouldn't have done that. The hiss will drive you crazy. I tried every "fix" I could find online and then contacted support. They gave me a few more things to try (and completely screwed up my audio settings in the process) but the problem persisted. In the end they asked me to send them information about my computer so they can find the cause. The problem is that I also tried this on my laptop with the same results. This device just isn't worth it. It should be noted that the hiss will not appear until you ask for a tone. So when your computer isn't actively playing sound, the hiss (suddenly) turns off. However, as soon as you play the sound, it returns immediately. When you press the mute button, the hiss disappears. One way to check if the hiss is still there (if you can't tell because you're playing a loud noise) is to play a music or YouTube video and then pause it. The hiss will last from 2 to 15 seconds and then turn off. Just to clarify my settings and what I've tried, I'm running the latest version of Windows 10 on the user's computer. I connected the dongle to the USB extender and also directly to the mainboard. I'm using Bose QC25 headphones with a 4-pin cable (the adapter requires a 4-pin cable). I also tried my Samsung laptop (with the latest Windows 10). I tried the 3 pin adapter. I've tried muting the microphone on Windows (just in case it responds even though the microphone monitor setting is off). I've tried Sound Blaster tuning apps (both). I tried installing a universal adapter (instead of game mode) and changing the windows audio settings to 24/96. I reset everything to default using their software. I turned down the volume everywhere (volume doesn't affect the hiss unless the audio is muted). Once I am done with this review I will be returning this item.
