I assumed you were increasing the pressure each time you squeeze the handles. If you think so too, then you are mistaken. You only press once. When squeezing, the crimping tool will click as it moves forward. When loosening, the tool is not released. It stays in that position until you squeeze it harder or pull the trigger. My guess is that the ratchet in this case means it takes less effort to do the same job. And it's easy and seems to work well as I've found by wasting spare cables and connectors. As the title says, I also tested it on some spark plug wires/clamps (7mm). This more than upset her. I only had to squeeze them halfway to make them tighter than needed. All the way down, the anger almost cut in half. I'm sure they will find wide application over the years. And I hope they last for many, many years - why else would I spend $25 on a crimping tool?
