Review on Premium Garmin fenix 6 Sapphire Multisport GPS Watch: Mapping, Music, Pace Guidance & Pulse Ox Sensors by Sean Bond

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Good build quality and high quality materials at a premium price.

Switched from Fitbit Ionic to Fenix 6 Sapphire so I will compare them in this review. Counter, the Ionic is a more accurate sleep tracker (don't buy a Garmin watch if sleep tracking is a priority, it's no good). Reliability: My colleague has had a Fenix 3 for 4 years with no problems. I've never had a Fitbit product that was longer than just out of warranty before it broke. Features: Fenix 6 is the most feature-rich fitness tracker on the market. If it can be tracked, this thing can track it. It is very difficult to find friends/connections in Garmin. The Fitbit app is sometimes easier to use because it has fewer metrics, but the Garmin app gives you a lot more information about your fitness. If you're a casual user the Fitbit app is better, otherwise the Garmin app is better. Syncing: I can tell you that Garmin brand watches sync much better than Fitbit. I hate syncing with the Fitbit app. Connectivity: Ionic has Fitbit payment and you can connect wireless headphones. Fenix makes Garmin Pay, you can connect wireless headphones and a range of external sensors including heart rate straps. Here Garmin is more advanced. Material quality: No competition here, the Fenix 6 is significantly better processed. Battery life: Expect 4-5 days from Ionic. Fenix 6 gives me 5 days with all sensors enabled and a few GPS runs. I suspect I can go 6-7 days without GPS and disabling the SP02 sensor increases that number to 10-11 days. The Fenix 6 has significantly better battery life. Price: The Ionic is $200 compared to the $800 for the Fenix 6. GENERAL: I like the quality of the Fenix 6. I wouldn't buy another Fitbit because I'm fed up with it. poor customer support and products that broke right after the warranty period. If you are a regular user, buy a cheaper watch. If you love numbers and are very active, then this watch is for you.
