This is no joke! I took it on a hike through Maine's Bigelow Mountains. When I ran out of the water I had brought, I was fine with that. Just take a wide-mouth bottle to fill with whatever water you find. At the top of one of the lower peaks I drank from the disgusting looking crevice filled with brown scales (see photo). I thought it was safe but the taste is terrible. NOT CORRECT. TASTES LIKE FRESH SPRING WATER. Better than any faucet. I'm from Maine and have tasted a lot of mountain spring water, so take my word for it. A word of caution: it can be a little tricky to get started. You have to prove it by soaking. If it still doesn't work, blow in a little. Grab one for your outdoor adventures and one for your survival bag that everyone should have in the event of a natural disaster (or civil war, of course, because the world seems to have gone mad).
