Review on Pyle PDBT35 1 Inch Titanium Tweeter by Troy Robinson

Crazy Tweeter: Car Audio

One of the two tweeters I received was defective. They are very loud and I need to figure out how to soften them to match the rest of my speakers. Probably buy an L-Pad or Xover with a built in tweeter damper. I'm pretty sure the sensitivity rating is 108dB. My EQ only clips -6dB, which isn't enough to keep up with my 95dB effective mids. Although they sound good. I put these bad boys in the car. One thing I don't like is the ability to short the speaker wire to the speaker enclosure. The mounting pins do not have much clearance from the tweeter housing so be careful when connecting them. The mounting screws come out of the voice coil that is soldered to the terminals causing catastrophic failure! I'm ashamed to admit it, but I couldn't understand it at first and assumed I had defective tweeters. When I realized what was going on, it was very obvious. The included mounting screws are long enough to short the leads and/or cut into the solder joints to destroy the connection. I messed up 3 tweeters before figuring out what's going on, but luckily I was able to save them by re-soldering the connections. These would be great tweets if the documentation was better and warned you about this trap. I wasted a lot of time over this problem and am not happy. Otherwise they sound decent when they work.
