I have decided to get back into skating after 20 years but couldn't find the right size hard shell boots. Either too big or too narrow for my feet. I chose this model, but the soft boot has nothing to do with the hard shell models. For a man who has severely sprained each ankle at least 10 times, this model almost seems like a mistake. However, I do notice that they seem to make my ankles work harder and I'm hoping this strengthens my ligaments. Without a taller collar, skates tend to roll to either side too much (pronating or supinating) unless I focus on using my toes to guide them (just like skiing). Older hard shell boots were lighter. They had to learn a bit but I'm starting to get the hang of them and they're comfortable, breathable and fast so I'm giving them this! I just wish I could find a hardboot that fits me better. The high 3 wheels are also an adaptation of older 4-wheel models.
