Review on πŸ” ZIGBEE Motion Sensor Compatible with Echo Plus, Echo Studio & Echo Show 2nd Gen - No Hub Needed by Luis Tuazon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

No complaints, it seems to work quite well.

I usually try to avoid generic products without reviews but I took a chance on this product because of the price and am happy with it so far. Don't forget that you need a hub that can handle Zigbee for this to work. If you don't have one, I wouldn't buy one. It seems to detect movement up to 10 to 12 feet away, so should be good for most rooms. My Hubitat is discovered when I put it in discovery mode. It works with Alexa through my hub and I can set it to turn the lights on when it detects motion and turn them off when there's no motion for a period of time. The description also said batteries were not included but mine came with it so that was a bonus. My only complaint would be that the setup is a bit confusing and some of the instructions are misleading. They give a QR code for download and for the app, but I got to a website that was entirely in Chinese and said to use the Smartlife app. If you have a hub (which you need anyway) you don't need to do this as it should just connect to your hub. Mine couldn't connect directly to Smartlife or Alexa, I had to go through Hubitat. To set it up (and again I'm using a Hubitat so yours may be different) just go to the app for your hub like you would normally add devices and put the device into pairing mode by pressing the button within 5 Hold for seconds with the little metal thing that came with it and it should recognize it. Then in the Alexa app I had to remove and re-add the hubitat from my skills (this can be a problem, but there might be a better way that I don't know about) and then I could use it in the Alexa app.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
