My computer slowed down under heavy load. I checked the temperature and under load it reached 90°C, which was very annoying since my CPU cooler is too big. I ordered lint free wipes and this thermal paste. I used 91% isopropyl alcohol on a lint free cloth to remove the old thermal paste from the CPU and heatsink. I repeated this process with a clean area of fabric until all of the thermal paste was removed, then did this twice more using buffing motions to get the area as clean as possible. I then applied a slightly smaller pea-sized dot of Arctic Silver 5 to my desktop CPU (I didn't use an expander) and reinstalled the CPU cooler, evenly rolling the cooler back onto the CPU with a slight rolling motion set to squeeze out any air bubbles. Then I gradually screwed the CPU cooler in an "X" pattern. My temperature dropped by about 30 degrees Celsius under load. My old thermal paste didn't apply well. It was completely dry and there were obvious signs of air bubbles in the paste. Overall great pasta!
