When I'm working indoors, outdoors, or on outdoor equipment, I don't need rust. This requires a stainless steel nut and bolt Steel (SS) I need a stainless steel lock washer, or better yet I can use a stainless steel nut with a nylon insert like one of these (I think the brand name was "Nyloc" back then. This is the generic version) They are great value and properly machined from stainless steel, corrosion resistant and just what I needed.They stay tight thanks to a nylon insert that threads onto the bolt along with the nut body.They have a 1/4" hole with 20 threads per Regular sized inches (TPI) so they can be used with the appropriate size bolts. The pictures show a closable tub with a stainless steel nylon liner. I recommend the se SNUG pack of 50 1/4" x 20 TPI Stainless Steel Nylon Insert Locknuts. You are of great value.
