Review on 🌿 Project Earth Compostable Zip Bags: 50 Count Quart for Freezer, Sandwich, Food Storage & More, Resealable Lock, Eco-friendly & BPA-Free by Ben Hamilton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Just as good as plastic, but composting can contribute to global warming!

These biodegradable ziplock bags work just like regular plastic ziplock bags. I like the feel of the material. It is soft and elastic. These bags are not see-through. So you may have to open them to see what's inside, or you may want to label them. Of course, they're more expensive than ordinary plastic, but they give you peace of mind that you're not using a product that will stay in the ground for centuries or maybe never break. The manufacturer claims these bags decompose in about 90 days, which is four times faster than my compostable bin liners. It is also claimed that the production requires 65% less energy and that the packaging emits 68% less greenhouse gases. Those are impressive numbers. I have no way of checking them. I really don't know what they mean - the fact is that making these bags emits 68% of greenhouse gases. I notice the irony that one of the products of decomposition of this packaging is CO2, which is carbon dioxide, the so-called greenhouse gas. By using these bags you might be saving the earth from more plastic, but you might be contributing to global warming!
