Review on 💨 Optimus Cool Mist Evaporative Humidifier - 1-Gallon Tank Capacity by Brooke Rogers

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Bought one to try and came back for a second!

Looking for different options to replace some of the old "cheap" humidifiers we had that were wearing out, this unit turned out to be the right size/price/features for ours purposes. Living in an arid climate, we were looking for a small device to use at night to relieve my wife's bronchial problems. After receiving the first device and using it for a few months, I can say that it does its job perfectly. Yes (according to other reviews), it's basically some plastic pieces around the water tank with a fan motor to circulate air through the absorbent filter. However, the plastic is well fitted and stable. The only downside is the odd curved shape of the cistern handle (not flat) which makes it difficult to balance the cistern under the sink faucet for filling. You also need to have a "tall" faucet in your sink or it won't fit under a regular toilet faucet. The tank only holds about 1 gallon, but the device claims 2g per day. Of course that is possible in our climate, but since the performance of the 'evaporative' unit is more dependent on the ambient temperature and relative humidity than the fan/filter, this statement can be misleading. Two fan levels enable convenient switching between day and night operation. The fan is very quiet and barely noticeable at low speeds. A little louder in the highs, but even then there's just a soothing "white noise" to put you to sleep. We only noticed this on the first or second day of use. The device does NOT produce a mist to wet the carpet or surrounding area, which is good for most. If you need a visible smoke machine, choose an ultrasonic machine instead of an evaporative system. This unit is ideal for a single room or small area. We liked it so much we bought a second one to use in our living room. Its higher price (compared to other comparable systems) is justified as it has a significantly better build quality.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Nothing
