Review on SML C250 2000 Pocket Screws - 2 Inch Length (Pack of 2000): Optimal Quality for Your Project by Tyler Cooley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

approx. 1000 screws tested; near perfect results

I bought this large pack of 2000 wood screws to use in 2x2 pine to build new wood frame cabinets for my sister's kitchen remodel. I only really needed half of these screws, but the price with these screws (handy with almost any mounting hardware) makes for better overall value when buying in bulk. And if you're planning on buying a pack of 2,000 Kreg screws, I assume you're probably already familiar with the quality of those screws. Perhaps the only useful detail I can add to such a review is the number of screws that failed. After using about half of the box I found only 1 broken screw. The square slot on the screw head was not properly cleaned. It was completely full making it unusable. If I had bought fewer screws I might have been disappointed, but if the percentage of defective screws in a large box is only about 1 in 1000 I would say the result is almost perfect. If I buy general purpose wood screws for other projects, I expect the screw failure rate to be higher, like 1 in 100 or so. sometimes. up to 1 out of 10. Honestly, if pocket hole joinery is your goal, you really can't go wrong with Kreg screws, even though they cost a little more than other brands.

Pros
  • Rough carving for softwoods such as pine; and for plywood, MDF, chipboard
Cons
  • Not sure
