Review on Hydrofarm Active Aqua Pump Outlets by Tina Wolford

The fish in my outdoor pond looked lethargic. I checked the pH, acidity and chlorine levels and everything is fine. I thought maybe my water element wasn't moving the water fast enough to keep it aerated so I decided to add this pump. My pond is 10x8 and 2 to 3 feet deep. I was surprised that this little pump could pump so much air. Within minutes of adding it to my pond, the fish came to life and started swimming. The pump pumps out a lot of air, even at a depth of 3 feet the bubbles go all the way to the top. The pump doesn't come with tubing or instructions (at least not in my box) and it doesn't have an on/off switch. There is only one knob to control how much air to pump. It uses a 1/4" diameter air hose. I used Jardin Aquarium Fish Tank Ponds 40mm diameter ceramic aerators with this pump. Compared to a traditional aquarium pump, this pump runs quietly. It has worked since I bought it it always has and I've had no problems.The pump is not waterproof so if you intend to use it outdoors it must be weatherproof.Also ensure adequate airflow around the unit or the motor may burn out.Addendum 21.04. 2013: The pump has been running continuously for a year without any problems Update 02/25/2014: 2 years of continuous operation and the pump is still running.
