Review on Plastic Non-Slip Hoop, 9-Inch by Morgan Products by Karla Richter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Holds the cloth drum firmly

I like my 7" Morgan hoop but I wanted a bigger hoop so I figured it would work for me. I love it. This increased my workspace from 38.5 inches to 64 inches, an increase of 40 percent. That's about as much as I want to go with the hoop. A larger hoop works in a floor stand that requires you to sit directly in front of it (like a dining room chair), but I use floor stands that snap over the armrest of my chair and sofa. 9-10 inches is about as much as you can use with this type of stand. The Morgan tire has a rib on the inner hoop and a matching channel on the outer hoop. Once the nut is tightened they work together to ensure your fabric never comes loose so the frame never needs to be tightened. The screws are very long, making it easy to use bulky fabric or felt-covered Aida to protect the stitches. It's not like this hoop is crushing the stitches, it's not! As a precaution against permanent tire marks, I don't leave Aida in the tire overnight, but linen and even fabrics seem fine for a few days and when I take them off they show no marks. away from the tire, making it easy to turn the wing nuts (I love wing nuts on tires!) without hurting your fingers. Coincidentally, the tabs also fit snugly into the clips on my tires, so I didn't cut the tire, which would reduce the seam area. I am very satisfied with this loop and can only recommend it. It takes about 2 minutes to tension my fabric drum. Once installed on the tire I tighten the bolt until the outer tire is a snug fit. Then I go around the hoop by stretching the fabric with one hand and holding the hoop with the thumb and forefinger of the other hand. I tighten the screw a few more turns and then repeat the process before tightening the screw all the way. My fabric is now snug against the drum and will remain so indefinitely.
