Size is very close to the original 'light' on our mid 80's 17ft RV that we refurbished. It was an easy install, just cut the wires and use the screw nuts provided to connect the new wires. The original didn't have an on/off switch on the outside, so that's a handy bonus. We took it on a hike and it lit up the area around the door well. We had a 12V supply and it worked great. I don't know how different the brightness is from the incandescent version because it didn't work, but it's quite bright. As I understand it, 300-400 lumens? But not the pesky "headlight" brightness that would be a camping foul at most campgrounds. You can leave it on all night for security if you don't want the neighbors to complain.
