I really started listening to amateur radio in the early 70's, then CB, but by 1977 computers pushed me to the background and after that I hardly touched the radio anymore. I recently received a pair of Baofeng handhelds and then found out about SDR. I was shocked! It really has come a long way for listeners! The amazing thing is the cost. and SRDSharp software for FREE! So I bought two for $50 and connected one to the antenna with the long cable and the other to the antenna that comes with the kit and I can easily switch between them. I added "HiLetgo 0.1-2000MHz Wideband High Frequency Amplifier Low Noise LNA 30dB Amplifier" to both, and to the Wire Antenna Amplifier I added "NooElec Ham It Up v1.3 - NooElec RF Upconverter" for ham radio setup. Groups. What a cheap and flexible setup I have on my PC right now. So different from the days of slowly turning the knob and looking for that elusive DX signal. Now I'm visualizing a broad spectrum and capturing the signals as they appear. It brought the hobby I loved as a teenager into this century. love it again and again!
