I am an artist and it is important to me to work in lighting that is as close as possible to diffuse sunlight for color rendering; I usually photograph my work outdoors on cloudy days. I have a Phive table lamp for my studio, but the lighting from the living room chair wasn't good enough. To complicate things further, we have a teal accent wall in a yellow room that changes the color temperature of daylight. to direct the light where I needed it. This light serves its purpose. I've read reviews where people say he's weak and doesn't hold his position well. This is not my experience with it. I attached it to my end table and have no problem with the extra play in the base. The light is controlled by a dimmer button, so I can light my work at the brightness I want. When my eyes get tired, a magnifying glass helps a lot when working with details. I even use it with the lights off so I can see things better on my phone when my eyes are tired. AGAINST: A major minus is associated with the LIGHT outer edge of the world. The light coming from the side is quite bright, which worries me unless I throw the light away from my face and at a more vertical angle. At night my husband worries about the edge of the world when we have dim lights in the living room and watch TV. My solution isn't very elegant, but I had to put tape around the edge of the light source to make it bearable (see photo). The other flaw isn't a design flaw, but a limitation that I was aware of when I bought it; I *really* wish it had a choice of different light temperatures. My Phive table lamp works and I love it. Bright white light disturbs the eyes, especially in the evenings. It's also useful to be able to change the temperature of the light and see how colors look in different lighting conditions. I was considering returning this light and getting another one with a different color temperature but I'll probably keep it.
