Big upgrade for my 1990's opener

I bought this garage door opener to replace a 1990's Stanley that had a cracked drive housing. Instead of purchasing a replacement part for $40 plus shipping, I decided to replace the entire unit and I'm very glad I did. Installation was fairly easy as I was replacing an existing system and all wiring was compatible. First impression: The system is elegant and quiet. I'd say the Genie engine case is half the size of my old opener, but my old opener was a big empty box of old tech, so it makes sense. The keyboard remote control is a nice addition and easy to program. It took me two tries as I think one of the numbers in my PIN wasn't registered so I had to reset it and start over, which is what the instructions say. Installing the Hiccup: (1) You will need to tension the chain until there is a 1/4 inch gap between the chain and the bottom of the bar. I couldn't get close to this tension without a lot of gluing, so I decided to let it sag a little lower. (2) The instructions are very precise and actually quite amazing and deserve applause: at one point the instructions directs the user to follow three steps to connect the chain bar to the motor housing, but the first two are for the chain drive and the last one is for the belt drive. Even close to the real issue, but deserves an edit in my opinion. (3) It is hereby pointed out that disposable gloves should be worn. The rail is completely covered in grease, as is the chain, of course. Again, you have been warned. far: I can't stress enough how much quieter this unit is than my old flock. If we sit on the patio above the garage, we won't hear it until we listen (the garage roof is concrete). No, it's not quiet, but it's a lot less uncomfortable than older Opener models. Warranty: My remotes arrived scratched and cut. Genie was very responsive via online support chat (phone support has unreasonably long wait times). It seems that the metal visor clip that comes separate from the car remotes can get in front of the remote and cut into the plastic. Not critical, but after spending a lot of time installing the opener and keyboard, the car remotes were the last thing I opened up, so... phew. Overall, I highly recommend this newcomer.
