Before trying this option, I watched a few YouTube videos to see what would be required when replacing the key fob shell. It looked so easy, but I found my factory key almost impossible to spot. I literally had to tear it to pieces to take the circuit board off. I was able to remove the circuit board without damaging it, but it was extremely difficult. Also, I found it impossible to remove the small pin to use the original key. This was easily resolved as I was able to get a new key from my Chevy dealer for $15. I advise you to see if your old key is falling apart, as shown in the YouTube video. if it's true
