LOVE these sponges and scrapers. At first I thought the "sponge set" was a little soft on the knees, rips after a few uses, and is too flimsy, but these things hold up like crazy. I cut one of the larger squares into four smaller ones to make them more "spongy" and our family of three roommates who cooked 5 or 6 separate meals a day have not YET destroyed our first quarter sponge and it has been six more than months . We just toss it in the dishwasher when it gets dirty and comes out fresh and new. Although it shows some wear and tear due to aggressive cleaning of the cheese grater, it is still outstanding in terms of longevity. I never thought about it either but being thin means when using soap there is no wasting soap being absorbed by a giant dirty old sponge so the soap lasts longer washing dishes as compared to my old eco friendly scotchbright -Sponges (which fell apart like crazy). The scratch pad is also phenomenal. I'm still a little scared of using it too aggressively on my cast iron because it scratches so well, but I'm willing to bet they're fine and won't hurt the pan even if you actually try. They never SMELL like regular sponges and yes food scraps will get stuck in the scraper but after you run it through the dishwasher most of it will be knocked out. I liked the product, well done.
