Perfect replacement for Kohler CV14S.

This is the perfect replacement for a Ford New Holland Kohler fuel pump. Things to note: The screws that come with it aren't the right size, maybe metric? or self-tapping screws? When I tried to insert them, there was a noticeable resistance. I don't know why but I haven't used it. If they don't snap into place without finger strength, don't use them. Clean up the holes and you're done! The large C-clip on the sides of the holder that holds the 2 pump inlets will not work unless you have pliers made for it. Just use a short drywall screw to push one side deep enough to expose the entry hole and you can push it in the rest of the way. Do not forget to oil them beforehand so that the rubber ring does not dry out. And make sure each angled inlet is facing the right direction before repairing it. It can be a chore to retrieve when you're confused. You DO NOT NEED a paper washer or steel washer unless the pump handle length is incorrect. Measure carefully. If the new length matches the old length, you can do without this spacer. And without padding. Use a rubber insert to seal the pump to the block. Cut the new hoses beforehand and put them on before reinstalling. You may first need to make sure that the top hose is connected to the actual fuel line that goes to the carburetor. Otherwise it may not be possible to install it with the pump installed without removing the motor top cover. Make sure the mating surface is clean. I had to use the blade of a utility knife to scrape the hard rock off the old gasket. Finally, don't overtighten. Torque is only about 4 pounds. Just give it a light press and call it good. The old screws work perfectly. Finally, and this is the tricky part, the pump arm actually rides behind a cam on a vertical shaft inside the engine. You may get lucky and get the pump nice and straight before you start tightening, or you may notice that the pump is quite far from the block when you are in the process of reinstalling. You can manually rotate the motor from above until the shaft has rotated enough that the pump is almost flush with the mounting surface. This protects the pump housing and your nerves when tightening the screws. A flashlight will come in handy to get a picture of this cam and see where it is. And the lawn mower caught fire! Problem solved. Now it only remains to be seen how long this new part lasts! I doubt it will give me 20 years like the old part!
