Review on Bilstein 24 146708 5100 Shock Absorber by Mike Skinner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Save the old rubber pads or cut out new ones.

As previously mentioned, the bumper rubber washers that come with the car are too thick to use on their own. They can be cut to thinner widths with a sharp utility knife or hacksaw if desired. The shocks themselves offer a decent ride, not too stiff at all. If "hardness" is what you're looking for, an adjustable shock might be the way to go. My jeep's previous owner had it installed when I bought the car. There was a shock. So I exchanged both. There was no noticeable improvement in smoothness. The nice thing was that Jeep already had a lift kit and wheel spacers, so it was a direct swap issue. Remember that there is a 5mm allen key at the very top of the shock absorber axle. Interconnects. This will prevent the damper body from rotating when tightening the main nut. I had to cut the end of my 5mm hex to fit - my Jeep is a 2014 and the passenger side clearance at the top of the shock is minimal at best.
